2.        The Sadducees, who said there is no resurrection, asked him a question about it. Jesus answered: In the resurrection (future) they will not marry but be like the angels. The God of the living will do this. It is not a matter of one state or the other. On earth people will marry and in heaven they will not. 12:18-27

3.        A scribe asked him about the greatest command of all. God is one. Love him with all and love your neighbor as yourself. This is more than all sacrifices. Jesus told him he was (presently) not far from the kingdom of God. It is not, either God or neighbor, but both. 12:28-32

4.        Jesus taught in the temple and added his question: How can the Christ be both David's son and his Lord? The Christ is neither just a man, nor God only, but both. 12:35-40

a.         He warned against the scribes because (in the present life) they liked flowing robes, greetings in the market place, the important seats in the synagogues, the places of honor at banquets, devouring widows’ houses and making a show by lengthy prayers.

b.         He prophesied that they would receive the greater future condemnation.

5.        Jesus surveyed temple life. 12:41-13:2

a.         He commended the contribution of the poor widow to the temple treasury. The rich put in much but she put in all she had, all her living (her future).

c.        He will gather his chosen from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.

4.        When you see the twigs get tender and the leaves come out on the fig tree summer is near. 13:28-31

a.        This generation will certainly not pass away until all these things take place.

b.        Heaven and earth will pass away but my words will never pass away.

5.        "You do not know when that time will come." 13:32-37

b.        Be on guard, be alert and pray.

c.        It is like a man who turns his house over to servants and tells the door keeper to watch.
